So I've been actually reading my outside reading book this week, and I think it's really weird how Mattie picks a word of the day. That word seems to start out every chapter, and they're usually words I've never heard of. Mattie also seems pretty much obsessed with reading and learning. But I guess that's what makes her unique, right? But still, she's running her family as well as taking care of some of her neighbors and constantly gets distracted by words? That seems just a little strange. If it was me, I'd get constantly distracted by sleep, but maybe that's just because it's a Thursday night and I have yet to finish my homework, speaking of which, I'd better get back to it...

I don't know about you, but I've had a pretty good Thanksgiving break. Aside from some friend drama (no more than usual really) and dealing with relatives that I only see once every few years, it's been very relaxing. I'm not a big fan of most Thanksgiving food, so I don't feel awful from eating too much either. I've finally gotten to sleep a decent amount this weekend--although not in a normal sleep pattern--so I'm feeling much better. However, it is now Sunday, which means that the dreaded thing that keeps me up at night has come back with a vengeance--yes, that's right, I mean homework. I haven't done ANYTHING homework related this week--except the Free Rice extra-credit which is, by the way, extremely addicting--so I have my work cut out for me today! I should probably go get started on that now. Let's hope I can get it all done...

Well, since apparently Hannah is the only one who reads this blog, I don't know why I bother writing anything interesting, but here goes nothing...

I've actually had a lot of time to read this weekend, but I've been reading anything but my outside reading book. First, I read Acceleration by Graham McNamee and then I started As Simple As Snow by Gregory Galloway. They're both pretty good so far. A little strange and very different than what I usually read, but good nonetheless. Acceleration is about a boy who finds a book in the lost and found of the subway containing the thoughts of a potential serial killer. The story was interesting, but it didn't have a very good ending, so I'm not sure that I would really recommend it. As Simple As Snow is about a girl who's really intelligent but really weird who is dating a normal guy with a messed up family. I'm not exactly sure where that one's headed, but it's also pretty interesting.

I suppose that at some point I'll have to actually read my outside reading book, but until then, I'll amuse myself with other things.

Yay!! Second letter of the alphabet!! I am really tired. This year is going by really fast, but it is absolutely exhausting!!!!!! It's so incredibly busy! But I like it busy. When I get free time on my hands, it just feels weird.

But I do wish that school would be a little less crazy. Not that I don't love going to school from 7:30-3:10 and then having another 3 or 4 hours of homework, but I could seriously use a break. I can't wait for Thanksgiving next week! I get to sleep and relax! FINALLY!!!!!!!!! But until then, I have to keep slaving away...so I should probably go finish my homework and get some sleep now. Until my next post...

2nd Quarter Post A!!!!!

I decided to letter my posts this time because it's different and therefore exciting. Okay, not really but bear with me here. I'm tired. I started reading A Northern Lights by Jennifer Donnelly this week. It looks like it's going to be good. There is a very strong female lead named who is about my age who has to take care of her family because her mother died. I think I'll be able to relate to her character a lot because there was a period of time in my life when I kind of had to take care of my family because my mom couldn't. But anyways...There's also the dad who seems to be somewhat feared by the rest of the family because he punishes them with his belt when they misbehave, but I guess that's just his way of disciplining them so it's not that bad. And then there's Mattie's sisters who seem like the typical siblings: annoying and constantly fighting, yet still lovable. These are the only characters I've met so far, but based on them, I think I'm really going to like this book.
